ACCP "Excellence in Achievement"

The ACCP "Excellence in Achievement" Program serves to acknowledge ACCP Members whose engagement with ACCP events/committees and contributions to the organization are deserving of recognition.

The ACCP “Excellence in Achievement” Program is pleased to recognize Alexander J. Sperry, PharmD, Formulation Scientist II in Research & Development at Nexus Pharmaceuticals Inc in Lincolnshire, IL. Dr. Sperry attended the ACCP Annual Meeting in 2019 and quickly recognized the opportunities ACCP would provide to grow professionally. He joined ACCP as a Student Member in 2019 and became a Full Member in 2022. He has been an active member of the Education Committee since joining the society. Dr. Sperry was a Poster Presenter at the 2020 and 2021 ACCP Annual Meetings, was a Mentee in 2022 and has attended several ACCP webinars.
Dr. Sperry earned his PharmD from the Medical Coll of Wisconsin in 2021. He completed post-doctoral training at the East Coast Inst for Research in Jacksonville, FL where he established relationships with over thirty healthcare professionals to form collaborations on clinical trials. In 2021, Dr. Sperry joined Nexus Pharmaceuticals as a Formulation Scientist II, where he is responsible for initiating development with literature search, providing documents to the Regulatory Dept for ANDA/NDA submissions and coordinating with external members for product development. His therapeutic areas of experience include endocrinology with a focus on diabetes, neurology, metabolic disorders, immunology and oncology. Additionally, Dr. Sperry has received numerous awards, has co-authored many publications and has been an invited speaker at various academic institutions.

Dr. Sperry shared his thoughts on what ACCP membership means to him:
“ACCP as an organization allows professionals from across different disciplines to educate all individuals in the field of clinical pharmacology. As a PharmD, we are trained to be experts in the field of pharmacology but lack the education on how research informs the way we treat patients. ACCP allows all disciplines to learn from one another and fill in our education gaps. ACCP has provided Mentors that have helped me along my path to be an industry pharmacist. I am proud to be a Member of a society that is so committed to delivering a diverse and broad level of education to all individuals and I recommend it to anyone who works in the healthcare field regardless of their role.”
Congratulations, Dr. Sperry, on being recognized for your outstanding achievements and contributions to ACCP!
