ACCP is Committed to CE Independence from Commercial Interests

The American College of Clinical Pharmacology® (ACCP) is committed to ensuring that its educational activities are free of commercial interest and bias. As such, ACCP has in place a series of policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of its educational program. ACCP abides by the regulations set forth by the ACCME and ACPE related to the standards for commercial support which includes the following:  

  • ACCP makes the following decisions regarding CE activities free of control of any commercial interest (SCS 1.1):
    • Identification of CME needs
    • Determination of educational objectives
    • Selection and presentation of content
    • Selection of all persons and organizations that will be in a position to control the content of the CME
    • Selection of education methods
  • ACCP will not enter into a joint providership relationship with a commercial interest. (SCS 1.2)
  • Potential conflicts of interest by activity planners and Faculty will be identified, reviewed and resolved (SCS 2.3)
  • All parties to the Written Agreement for Commercial Support must agree to comply with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support. [Industry Best Practice]
  • ACCP must make all decisions regarding the disposition and disbursement of commercial support. (SCS 3.1)
  • ACCP will not seek suggestions from the commercial interest regarding Faculty members, content and other aspects of the CME activity. ACCP will not seek review of CME content by the commercial interest.
  • The commercial interest cannot make the acceptance of advice or services concerning teachers, authors or participants or other education matters, including content, a condition of support. (SCS 3.2)
